నా శిశువు చాలా మత్తుగా ఉండి లేవడం లేదు. ఎప్పుడు వైద్యుడిని సంప్రదించాలి?

త్వరిత సమాధానం

While newborns sleep 14 to 17 hours a day, they should wake easily every 2 to 3 hours for feeds, cry when hungry, and look alert when touched. A baby who is 'lethargic'—sleeping through feeds, too weak to suck, or failing to wake even after undressing or gentle tickling—requires immediate neonatal evaluation. At Nareddy Care in Tirupati, Paediatrician & Neonatologist Dr. Bramhini Nareddy checks for neonatal jaundice, dehydration, and silent infections.

తరచుగా అడిగే ప్రశ్నలు

How can I tell the difference between normal sleep and lethargy?

A normally sleeping baby will stir, stretch, or cry when undressed, wiped with a damp cool cloth, or when their feet are stroked. A lethargic baby remains limp, floppy, and refuses to open their eyes or suck.

Should I wake my sleeping newborn for feeds?

Yes. In the first 2 to 3 weeks until birth weight is safely regained, you should always wake your baby if 3 hours have passed since the start of the previous feed.

What should I do if my baby won't wake up?

Undress baby to their diaper, change their nappy, talk softly, and stroke their back and feet. If baby remains unarousable or floppy, bring them to our clinic or emergency immediately.
